Just wanted to send out a message to those stressing out over their prenaplex scores... the prenaplex is complete crap!

I got a 75 on the prenaplex after a few weeks of casually looking stuff over and one week of hardcore studying. Mind you I was certain I would hit 100. The prenaplex was taken on Tuesday morning and my exam was Friday morning, so I freaked out... a lot! So much in fact that I ordered another prenaplex Tuesday night. Ended up getting a much harder exam, and got an 83 on it. At this point I was pretty sure that the prenaplex wasn't a good predictor of anything. The questions were absolutely ridiculous and everyone says that naplex is a basic competency exam. In any case I was still sufficiently freaked out, and ordered a month access to the rxprep quizbank to use it for my last two days.

My NAPLEX result? Passed with a 119.

Did my score really increase from a 75 to a 119 in the matter of days? Sounds rather exponential... The more likely explanation being that the prenaplex predicts absolutely nothing. And should NOT be used as an indicator of future success on the exam.

Best of luck to all!

congratulations on your success!! and thanks for sharing with us your experience..
BTW, would you like to share your rx prep quiz account with me plz my exam is next month
Thanks!! pm me if interested..

Congrats! Was the RXprep quiz bank helpful? I'm thinking about getting the 1 month access.

Thanks and congrats on passing the NAPLEX

For me:

Pre-NAPLEX: 101
Real NAPLEX: 123

I think if the Pre-NAPLEX tells you anything, it's that you can miss quite a few questions and still get a decent score.

The Rxprep quiz bank was helpful in some aspects- I didn't do all the quizzes, there were just way too many. But some of it is more detailed than you really need to know on the NAPLEX.

I sure hope so. I had a 101 Pre-Naplex, but do not feel confident about how the real thing went down this morning. Everyone seems to have a higher score on the actual test, so hopefully I won't be breaking that trend. :scared:

It seems like the people that took the Pre-NAPLEX last year or the years before were getting scores that were closer to their actual score. All I've been hearing about this year is 60-80s. Maybe they made it harder, not sure. When I took it, it was like wtf. I never even learned this stuff in school.

That's how I felt about the actual test. Pre-naplex and the other practice tests I had were challenging, but I could get through them feeling okay. I had a case with 3 questions in a row asking me about a drug I have never heard of. Hard to renally adjust something, then chose it's storage conditions, then discuss its interactions, when you have no idea what the drug is. Choose all that apply were also killers, and the Pre-Naplex only had 1 of those, while my test was probably 20%. It's basically 5 true or false questions in 1, and if you get any part of it wrong, it's all wrong.

Story of my life

Just want to add to this forum, bc I think the Pre-naplex is not only a waste of time and money, but detrimental to your confidence going into the exam. If you take it a few weeks in advance it might be slightly beneficial by providing you with some motivation to study harder as well as learning the basic question format, but that's about it.

I took Pre-Naplex about 2 weeks before to gauge how much I needed to study.
I got a 64 on the first pre-NAPLEX so was very stressed
Studied only RxPrep book up through the Oncology and then ran out of time and just skimmed the rest.
Did 3/4 of the calculations in the RxPrep book. They seemed a little more basic then the SDN 120 calculations but provided better explanations.
Did the SDN 120, but IMO they were much harder than what I encountered on the exam. Not to mention read through the SDN forum they are posted on bc there are a good 6 or 7 wrong answers. But I definitely recommend doing them.
Anyways, since I felt unprepared mainly due to the fact that I bombed the pre-NAPLEX, I pushed back my NAPLEX, which cost me another $50.
Then came my NAPLEX and the night before I did the second pre-NAPLEX and got a 69. So my confidence was shot.

As for the NAPLEX it asked weird questions that seemed out of left field, but for all I know those were some of the 15 test questions that don't count. Anyways, I walked out confident I failed it and down in the dumps. Got my score today (2 business days later) and got a 118. So, don't waste money on pre-NAPLEX!!!

Just do the following and you will be fine:
1. RxPrep book (including quizzes at end of chapters, know your brand/generic/indication/main SEs esp drugs that are in bold in book)
2. SDN 120 (be sure to read the forum to know which answers are wrong)

gl !!!!

Pre-Naplex was 101, taken on Tuesday. Naplex was taken that Saturday, got a 124.

I studied SDN 120 calcs (only got up to 90 something, skimmed the rest as I was running out of time). Also studied that 200 question practice test in the sticky. I bought Kaplan 2013 book, read the chapters quickly, skipped a few topics here and there. Took the review test in the back, and did the one online. Book wasn't that great, but the review was nice. I meant to study some of my old class notes on a few topics, but I kept getting called in to work because of family emergencies and never got around to it.

Same deal on pre-naplex, 75 vs 110 real deal. Stupid pre-naplex freaked me out.
