Hello

I am a new student, looking to begin classwork this fall. The way I found to study for the MCAT most useful was to take the prep books, like Examkrackers, for the respective subject and make notes as I went through the actual class.

Do any of you current students know of such prep books that would help in ultimately preparing for the boards so that I can annotate them similarly as I go through the classes? Or is this a wrong way to approach the boards?

Thanks!

For a lot of the students, they use the First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 in conjunction to course material. Annotate the book as you go through each course and it will help you when you prepare for part I since you will be familiar with it. Problem is that you will be very busy with the course load that it may seem difficult to get time to annotate it. Also, if you buy the book this year, two years later some stuff will be updated in the First Aid (not that it makes much difference, but some will be different such as pharmacology). I personally think class notes are sufficient enough as well as flashcards (i.e. pharmacology, microbiology) for review. Your class notes on Lower Extremity Anatomy is key and will be good for the boards (there's no prep books as of yet that I know of). Just make sure you learn the material really well from the get go so that when it comes to review, it's less stressful. Best of luck.

There are a ton of prep books out there that could be used for boards. I know there are a number of threads on boards prep.

In the end, it just depends on what works best for you. Everyone has a different way of prepping.

Best of luck!

You haven't even started your P1 year yet. Enjoy your summer while you still have one. You do not have to worry about part 1 for a very long time.

Dont worry about mcat podiatry schools take everyone

Did you even read her post? She is asking about part 1 boards, she isn't asking about mcat scores...and your statement is false. Although podiatry schools are relatively less competitive than allopathic or osteopathic medical schools, they are starting to become more competitive.
