Hi Guys,

I am kind of new here, and have been reading over a few of the posts, but wasnt able to locate this answer. Maybe you guys can help me with what seems to be an interesting situation 🙂

I am a returning student (grad 2000 BS in Microbiology) taking my last pre-reqs - A&P.

I purchased the Kaplan book to start preparing for the PCAT, realized i needed help in chem, and decided to audit Chem I and organic Chem I (in Florida, you cannot retake a class for a grade if you passed it already).

the professor of my Chem I class suggest i take Chem II instead if i am taking these courses for help to prep with the PCAT (which I am, along with a get back into acedemics mentality I am creating for my brain).

My question: Should i follow her advice and drop Chem I and take Chem II. Will Chem II help me better prepare for the PCAT?

Keep in mind, I have taken all of the Chemistrys required, so its just getting back into the groove for me. (I never worked in my degree field).

Thanks for your help in advance!!

Regards,
cowgirltt

well if u dont know the stuff from chem one...u will still not know it for the pcat even if u do take chem 2...i think since is not in depth on the pcat u should just review the kaplan book and practice on your own..that way u can focus more on the stuff on the pcat instead of other things....
but again others here will give u better advice than me..🙂

i don't think you should waste your time and money retaking Chem I and II. i took that in freshman year and lot of the stuff i forgot when i was studying the chem section for PCAT. i think you should be fine with Gen Chem but organic is little harder...you probably know that

I think it depends on what you feel you need help with. I would look at the syllabus and see what topics are covered for each semester. Look over some problems and see if they look familiar/you can figure them out. Then decide what semester or if both semesters would help you out. Really you won't know how much of Chem I vs. Chem II will be covered on your specific PCAT, so just know it all.
