Prep for Re-applying?

At this point in the cycle if an applicant has not received any interviews yet is it safe to just give up hope for this cycle and start prepping to boost application to re-apply or is there really still a chance for a lower stat applicant?

I’d prepare for the next cycle but I’d never give up on hope.

I would start prepping now, look into post bacc classes for the spring maybe to boost gpa, research, shadowing, volunteer, etc. but as last post said don’t give up hope! at least not for the next couple months

Yes! I'm starting classes next week definitely working on boosting my gpa and taking upper level science classes. But also, praying for a miracle haha

Hi Karim,

By this time we typically have all of our interviewees planned out, so unfortunately I doubt you will receive an interview invite (but you never know!). But let this application cycle be a good learning exercise for you. If your stats are within a reasonable range for an interview (GPA>3.5, DAT>20, solid extra-curriculars), I would recommend calling all of the schools you applied to and asking if they have any insight or are able to provide you stats for their incoming class. If you know of a certain issue (low DAT score, no shadowing, etc), then please focus on improving it!

Are you referring to your school or all dental schools in general?

not all schools, but the majority already have all applicants sorted out.

Yeah that's what I'm curious about too and sort of asked in my thread...

it seems as if you're saying that adcoms already know who they're going to invite for each interview day throughout Jan. and the rest of spring so there's literally no point in this post dec. half of the cycle for any chances left for those who pretty much aren't nearly as good candidates as others...

or was your comment only for ucsf prospective candidates??

oh :/ I guess it sort of makes sense... ppl invited at the end of Dec. were for the beginning Jan. interviews
and im sure by now they know who they want for mid/end jan and feb

It really depends on the school. You're really counting on schools with big class sizes to be offering interviews late though. If you applied to the right schools with good stats, you should hear back soon

I received my last interview invites in mid March!
Start prepping but also hope for the best, keep on sending letter of Intersts.
