It might sound stupid, but I would like to know if during the bench test (UOP interview) the ivorine teeth are prepared with or without water? If dry, how do I keep the plastic from clogging the bur?

I truly appreciate your help. 🙂

Thanks...

Please I need an answer for my stupid question!!!! Are we preparing ivorine teeth using a high speed hand piece with the water turned on or off???

You will be prepping with the water turned off. The bur will not get clogged or dull till a lot of teeth have been prepped so as long as u start off with a new bur in ur test you will be fine. You can remove debris off the tooth with an air water syringe.

Thank you so much, Helpfuldoc. I appreciate your reply. 🙂

thanks...even i had the same doubt...but i have an additional doubt is...suppose we want to practise it on teeth...then wont our handpieces get heated up without the water??how do we practise...

I tried doing it at home with no water and the handpiece worked fine and didn't get over heated. I thing the tooth did, but it's supposed to take the heat. Don't try that on real teeth, though.

it looks like you do not have any experience about teeth preparing which is normal,
If you really want attend the interview and spend a lot of money why dont you spend little bit more and try some pre interview courses to prepare more?
I did not go to this type of courses but i do know that some candidates take it and they did a good job in practical test.
good luck
😍

Well, when I went to dental school we prep'd plastic teeth with the low speed handpiece and moved on to the high speed when we worked with "real" teeth, using water, of course. I had no idea that in the US they prep'd plastic teeth with the high speed handpiece and no water. I don't think that means I don't know how to prep teeth :hardy:.
I live in Seattle and I have no idea of who offers a bench preparation class here. I can't afford to pay for the courses in CA or FL (plus I work full time and can't take such long "vacation"), so my only choice is to practice at home. If it has to happen, it will happen, with UCLA course or Duggans' or not.
