Okay so I am scheduled to give the NBD in November-December and have only completed Patho-Micro so far. Am hopelessly lost in Anatomy.Kaplan is so bad - sometimes feel like tearing up the book. I just don't know what to do. I mean I have to get a very good score as I am giving the exam so late, but then there is so much left. Since I am using Kaplan as my bible was wondering how the hell I will find time for the decks. God I am really desperate right now. 🙁

Would anyone please offer some insight. Would be really apppreciat 🙂 ed.

I am also sitting for the exam either november or december of this year, and i know the times seems long but in reality there is so much to do with so little time, i am in anatomy right now, trying my best to study and absorb it. One of my friends suggested that we do dental decks first, then past papers, then we do kaplan, and he told me to revise as many times as i could. we can do it, with alot of prayers and determination. we will survive this my friend. take care

Hi,
You know what, if u are getting frustrated doing kaplan alone maybe you should try mixing up things. I would suggest doing at least a couple of papers in each subject initially just to get an idea as to what is more important. Also ,it is good idea to start with decks early on & keep revising them .It is amazing how you find things in the decks during your revisions....It feels like you had never read little bits of info thoroughly & these little bits are absolutely important.

Working on all 3 simultaneously breaks up the monotony & will help you get things done quicker.

Hope things work out for you, Good luck,
Treasure

hey moneeza,

u have a lot of time, so u can do a very leisured preparation.
let me tell u how i did...
divide anatomy into systemic, head n neck and limbs.
while doing systemic take a topic cover the embryology, histology, anatomy and then cover the same topic in physiology and pathology try to do this in 2 days or 3 days.
this shud include decks too!

for systemic kaplan is more than enough but there are many anat websites u can use.
while reading anat make sure u see the structure while u read. search search n search till u see an understand the structure even the nerves or vessels...

as u have lot of time there are more chances to forget subjects so u have to have a strong source to recollect anat!!!

concentrate decks but while doing decks ref text or search online where ever u find it inadequate.

good luck!!!

HEy don't worry so much.....i'm in the same dilemma...sometimes i review questions that aren't even in the Kaplan book and that's when it gets really frustrating....if it's getting to monotonous for you then take a break....have fun for 1 day and then start studying again...it helps keep your brain refreshed.

I'm doing the Kaplan book and decks and past papers and sometimes i'm so afraid that i won't do well......

Good Luck!!!! 🙂

I know what you are talking about moneeza, i went through entire anatomy once, only to realise that i dont retain a word when i went through it again. I have to start from scratch again now 🙁 I havent gone through other sections and i am in a fix as to first revise anatomy again or to start with other new sections. I only worry that when i reach the end, i'll forget everything that i have studied in the beginning.

Maybe i should listen to my grandma and start having Dabar chavanprash every day for better memory! 😀 heheh lol

Hi guys,
i was planning to give the exam in december too,but have still not registered coz i am not sure if i will be able to complete sudying on time.I am having such a TOUGH time studying biochemistry....its driving me crazy.I cant even seem to recall the basics of carbs...God help me...I dont know what to do!!!!!

hey guys,

biochem is easy if u do this :

buy usmle st 1 lecture tapes ( around $150 for all subjects )... very easy and u will need more than u need.
or

buy "clinical biochemistry made rediculously simple" by steven goldberg. he has many books with an amazing chart. Usmle kaplan book has 2 charts for insulin phase and glucagon phase.... spend 5-6 hrs correlating all cycles with that 2 page chart.... u will feel like king of biochem. kaplan nbd book is a waste for understanding purpose......remember; it is a review book.

good luck.
