Hey guys! I am dead on pursue Dentistry as a career. I can't see myself pursuing any other careers. I would like to prepare for my upcoming Canadian DAT during the summer while shadowing some dentists. But I am afraid that my mind may change when I voluteer with dentist even though I have done lots of research and put lots of thought about my reasons for going fo dentistry. So, what do u guys think? Do you think shadowing dentist would change my decision really easily? Anyone here has been to the same situation. Thank you!!!

How did you become dead on pursue(ing) Dentistry as a career without having shadowed a dentist for even a min?? If you suspect doing so might change your mind, it really might.

what the heck??

If you're so impressionable that the THOUGHT of shadowing a dentist might destroy your "well-laid" career plans... please drop out of life and go eat cement.

YOUR A TROLL.

No one is that stupid. Are they?

TROLL TROLL TROLL.

let me apologize for my peers' rude respones! sorry...

but in any event, yes, shadowing might change your mind. you certainly want to shadow some before you get yourself into this. i would say at least 10 hours, and many people shadow for 50 or more.

good luck.

Don't take offense to what others have said but, try to understand what you are saying. Your saying that you want to do dentistry but, you don't want to shadow a dentist because you don't want to find out that you dislike it! That doesn't make much sense. The whole point of shadowing is to discover you like and dislikes. If the dislikes outweigh the likes then maybe its not for you. Think about it! Do you want to go through 4 years of graduate school just to find out that for the next 40 years you might hate what you do? That isn't fair to you or the patients. Seems like at, at this point, you are choosing this career based on the opportunities that come with it and not about whether you like it or not. You better rethink your career plan. At least shadow a dentist and then decide.
