Hi everyone,

The ADEA AADSAS team completed a webinar today introducing 2026-2027 applicants to the mobile-friendly user interface and addressing general questions about the Liaison Letters portal. Key points include:
  • Fees: $245 for one school, $115 additional thereafter.
  • Application opens May 12, 2026. Decision Day is December 15, 2026.
  • Interfolio will handle letters/packets it delivers to Liaison Letters, and will fill out the mandatory questions as "not applicable (Interfolio)" when prompted, including the rating questions.
  • May 20 is the ADEA AADSAS Virtual Fair, anticipating 50 of the 79 schools will be available (register soon).
  • The session recording will be available for 30 days after it is ready.
  • You are HIGHLY encouraged to review the applicant instructions and help documentation before beginning your application, which will not be available until May 12. Gather your information including unofficial/official transcripts that you can access for accurate coursework entry. Verification should take 3-4 weeks depending on when you submit.
The webinar suggests that the admissions officers serving on the ADEA AADSAS advisory board suggested including these new questions in the letters portal. Any institutional committee/composite letter counts as 1 letter; it is not clear that all applicants have 4 letter slots to fill regardless of a committee designation (which was the previous process).

Evaluators are asked to use a Likert scale to represent how well they have observed each applicant's desired attributes. It is not a comparative judgment.

I assert that the content of the letters will (still) be more important than the Likert scales that each evaluator gives you, as there are many ways an evaluator can avoid giving a score. Furthermore, all Interfolio-submitted letters will automatically be rated as "not observed" or "not applicable." However, the 10 characteristics offer additional insight to the desirable attributes for entering dental students.
  • Critical thinking
  • Didactic knowledge
  • Integrity
  • Interprofessional skills
  • Maturity
  • Motivation
  • Organizational skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Reaction to criticism
  • Self-awareness
Note that "fine manual dexterity" is not one of the assessed characteristics. I believe the self-description essay on fine manual dexterity should still be filled out.

Following up: if you are worried about how your desired schools will consider the data from the 13 character questions/rating scales, ASK THE ADMISSIONS STAFF before you submit your application. Don't believe the influencers who say the ratings will be used to filter for desirable applications or sort applicants. Attend the Virtual Fair and ASK THE RECRUITERS.
