Preparing for employment transition

Board certified junior faculty in a hybrid position who is looking to transition to academic radiation oncology. Current employment has stability but no opportunity for professional, academic, financial advancement. Likelihood of burn out is exceedingly high.

What steps should be taken now to improve future employment opportunities? Goal would be transition in no more than 5 years.

Most academic jobs are "hybrid" positions nowadays. I wonder what you're expecting from academics and whether you'll get it. Maybe you just need a new job in general.
