Hi everyone!

I start my first year of school here in a few short weeks, and I've heard from some other students that to be competitive for competitive residencies by doing really well on the boards, it's best to start board prep early on in year once in conjunction with the curriculum.

I was thinking about signing up for firecracker prep. What're the thoughts? Should I be worrying about board prep yet? If so, what kind of prep should I use?

Worry about classes first before worrying about boards.

People don't study for the MCAT first and then take classes. Usually it is the opposite. What you can do is to supplement your classes with board prep on that subject.

It's not outrageous to do something like firecracker or anki along with classes during M1. Just start slow and make sure it doesn't get in the way of your class performance.

I already got me some Pathoma and a First Aid.

By doing well in your classes, you ARE prepping for boards. If you want to do some FireCracker questions to keep it fresh in your head that may be good, but DO NOT start studying for boards first year. The bulk of the material that is on boards is going to be learned in second year.

3. Go to Kinko's or Staples
4. Print out single sheet style
5. Cover related pages to subject material covered in class.
6. Enjoy the rest of the weeks you have left.
