Hi everyone

I've heard the AMCAS application is very long and tedious.
I know we will be able to start filling it out in May, but I was wondering what information do I need to have ready in order to be able to complete the application in time for June?

I really want to submit it early and just want to know aspect of the application might delay my submission.
Thank you!

Most of the application is straight forward to fill out.
For the course work section, you'll need to request an official transport from your college and input your college courses. For the work and activities section, you have to list a maximum of 15 of your ECs. For this, it's helpful to have contact info for each of your ECs and work out the total number of hours you spent doing that EC activity. You also have to write out a description for each activity, which is a maximum of 700 characters (including spaces) long. You then select 3 of your activities as your most meaningful activities, which then gives you an additional 1,325 characters (once again, including spaces) to elaborate on why this activity is most meaningful. It is helpful to have these descriptions pre-written so that you can just paste it all in and be ready to go!
And then obviously, have your PS ready and have your list of schools ready.

-transcripts...get those puppies in ASAP. my post bacc was lagging and it set back my submission time 1 week and it stressed me out a lot.

-obviously have your PS and Work/Activities ready to go...if you haven't started, I highly suggest you begin writing those.

other than that, everything else you can fill out in a day or 2.

good luck!

Just to clarify, get your official transcripts, not simply student copies. When entering your coursework on the AMCAS is should be in exactly the same order as it is on official transcripts as that is what the AMCAS verify staff will see. You can also download/read the following in preparation. As a side note, I am always astounded at the number of applicants who never read the instructions or look at the AMCAS tutorial website. These are the review outlines for the first exam on how to apply to medical school. I would assume that prospective applicants would read these backwards and forwards to the point of being able to recite much of it verbatim but that is rarely the case

I wasn't aware of such recourses available. Thank you for pointing this, I'll be sure to check them out!
