Preparing for the DAT

What is the best way to prepare for the DAT? What kind of books do you recommend? There are not a lot of books out there that are supposed to prepare you for the DAT. Tons of MCAT books though. I am a sophomore in college right now. When should I start studying and when should I take the test?
I did find a dentist to shadow. I got that out the way.

I walked into a Barnes and Noble the other day and asked for DAT prep material, and they were like "whats a DAT?" At that point I knew I came to the wrong place. lol

Any help would be appreciated. thanks

For Biology, I'm using Cliffs AP biology, Barron's AP biology, Kaplan Blue Book, Schaum's Outline for Biology, and MCAT Exam Krackers biology. I don't really use Schaum's that much, but I do really like Barron's AP Biology and Cliffs AP Biology.

For Chemistry, I'm right now using MCAT 1001 questions in Chemistry, and DAT destroyer (you can only buy it online, but it's expensive!). DAT destroyer is alright for Biology.

For Perceptual Abilility, I'm using the Crack the DAT PAT software (http://www.crackdat.com/).

I can't say anything about the Math and Organic Chemistry since I will be writing the Canadian DAT which does not cover those topics.

I think it's better to take the test as soon as you are done with the college courses that are going to be covered on the exam like Ecology, or Organic Chemistry.

I saved the Test Specifications to my computer. Ecology is indeed on the test, it seems.
