Hello all,

I was poking around google and I found a bunch of places that prep you for the exam/certify you but can one go about self-studying for this? I tried to look for some books on amazon but nothing noteworthy. Anyone have suggestions from their own experience? Thanks =)

I self study for the PTCB exam. I bought books from the web and study for two months before the exam. For me, it's not very hard because I had Master degree in Biotechnology and work in pharmacy every weekend for two years already. Working experience really help you to study for the exam. If you want the web site, I can give it to you.

study for 2 hours and you will pass the exam with flying colors, check the licensure subforums, i had good advice there.

Hey I took the test on 9/22 and got my certificate a week later. I though the exam was really easy but I have 4 yrs tech experience. But I think any experience suffices.
I would just study the calculations (there were quite a few), common drugs, daily tech duties, inventory managment and assisting the pharmacist. Some of the review books are really too involved.

Well my hope is that I get certified so that I can work in lets say CVS/Generic Good store's pharmacy as a technician. Although I think some don't require certification to apply, I assume getting certified might help with getting hired?

The test wasn't very difficult at all.
I studied <2 hours the night before, never set foot behind the counter of a pharmacy, and passed with room to spare.

Just remember your conversions, especially tsp to mL, and you're golden.

Just buy any decent pharm tech book and study extensively the math section. PTCB primarily tests math. (I used the Delmar book).

As long as you have pharmacy experience at least 6months good tech then you should be fine.

the PTCB website gives places you can get books the book I was given was from AACP and it was good but I only read it once and passed with almost a perfect so I got by on my work experience alone pretty much.

CVS paid for my PTCB test when i took it in 2005
