If you're like me, basically all I can think about is vet school at the moment - aka where (if) I'll get in. I just need one school to say yes and then I can calm the heck down!

Since that's out of my control at the moment, I'm looking for distractions and figured the best thing is to focus on what I can do to possibly prepare myself for vet school. Knowing how tough and rigorous it is, I figure any head start is a good one.

I asked one of the vets I work with if she recommended anything to read or do ahead of time, and the one thing she recommended was studying anatomy of cats and dogs, since they're not going to change by the time I (hopefully) get in, and I'll need to know them regardless of which school I go to. The books she recommended were Miller's Anatomy of the Dog, and the Color Atlas of Veterinary Anatomy.

Wanted to share in case anyone else needs the distraction, and curious if anyone else has any suggestions!

And yes, fully aware I'm putting the cart before the horse. Sue me

please don’t study before school starts. if you feel like you MUST do something, get the anatomy coloring book and color that. You never know what your professor is going to teach, or how they want to present it.

Ah fair. I just hate waiting and doing nothing. I'll check out the coloring book in that case 🙂

Thanks!

You're going to hear a resounding chorus of "don't study before vet school starts!" here and you're going to be like BUT I LOVE THIS STUFF IT'S SO NEAT and then one day you'll be in first year of vet school like "I should have listened to all of those jaded vet students on SDN and watched grass grow instead"

Haha I'm fully aware of my naivety (hence this post I suppose), so I appreciate y'all's advice.
