I've been very good about keeping my inside thoughts inside but this struck a nerve.
Romans 14:1 "As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions"
James 2:16 "And you say, 'Goodbye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well' - but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What does that do?"
Romans 12:9 "Love must be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good."
And most importantly:
1 John 3:18 "Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions"
To claim to love people when you can't even see their struggles is not love. "For when I was hungry, you fed me. For when I was thirsty, you gave me drink. For when I had no place to stay, you invited me in. For when I was poorly clothed, you covered me." It's a requirement to not only SEE the struggles of our fellow human, but to relieve them. To fight for them. I detest when people think that ending an argument with "but I love you and God loves you" absolves the speaker of any hurt they may have caused. You cannot claim to love someone and not follow it up with your actions, and if you do not see the struggles of your peers, you refuse to recognize that their struggles may be based on their skin color or belief, you call them brainwashed and say they hate you, then you do not love them for you do not truly see that person.
And that will be my one and only contribution to this portion of the conversation. We'll see if I even feel like posting this in five minutes. I am currently making tacos, which sadly do not have potatoes in them. I have recently learned a trick for mashed potatoes though: add chicken bouillon (or veggie bouillon if that's more your speed) to the water you boil them in. It deepens the flavor a TON.
