Hey guys!

I've recently been debating between MD/DO, PA, and NP programs. I graduated college with a 3.25 in poli-sci, took zero science classes, and recently started taking prereqs at a CC in Manhattan thinking I'd eventually work my way into Columbia's DNP program. I've been working in preventative healthcare helping pre-diabetic and pre-hypertensive clients make lifestyle changes and I know I want to work my way up to being a provider. But the more I think about the amount of debt I'd need to take on for a DNP or PA program and the length of time I'll spend working towards a degree and the complexity of cases I would get, the more pulled I am towards just going for an MD/DO program. So far I've completed 2 science courses at community college and have a 4.0.

I know some programs won't even look at me with community college on my transcript. Has anyone else had any luck applying for MD/DO programs after taking all of their science courses at a community college?

Thanks for your help!

really a lot depends on your MCAT. If you score a 525 on the mcat and have a 4.0 at a CC, it can be argued that the rigor of your classes was on par with that of a 4 year. Conversely, if you get a 4.0 and 500 MCAT, it will look like your program was easy and your GPA can be easily dismissed.

There are lots of people with CCs in DO programs. I don't know of any DO programs that don't accept cc now. MD programs vary greatly on acceptance of CC courses. Look at the individual progs you are interested in and see what they say on their websites.

Shadow some PA, NP, MD and DOs and see whats right for you.

Good luck
