Hey guys....what prereq courses are required for most pharmacy schools...
Some Pharm Colleges dont require Calc or Physics...so Im confused on which classes to take.. Im new to this so Im just doing the research

Overall, I believe the main requirements for most are:
Physics
Calc
General Chem
O Chem and
Biology

correct?

Do I need to take more than these listed courses?

Anatomy and Physiology and Public Speaking are pretty common prereqs also. Some even require Biochemistry. I would suggest looking online at the schools you might want to apply to's website for a list of prereqs. That's really the only way to be sure.

I agree with Sublime. I have a B.S. and am still taking 17 hours of pre-reqs now - A&P (1 and 2) - an economics course, a logic (philosophy) course, and general psychology (I took sociology as an undergrad and that won't work for some schools). Generally, it seems most schools require about 65 hours (give or take) in pre-reqs - or about 2 years of undergrad study.

Oh yeah, most require at least 1 semester of English Comp/Lit, most require 2 semesters, plus the speech/public speaking course. Some also require specific history/world civilization courses, but those requirements seem to vary more widely.

It looks like you have the science requirements pretty much listed - 2 semesters each for Gen Chem, O-Chem, Physics, and Biology, plus Calculus.

The best advice I have is to look into a few schools you are thinking of applying to and get an idea from their pre-req lists.

Good luck!

dont forget microbiology as well.. not all schools need it, but its really helpful in the future classes if not, it just looks impressive.

Thanks guys...yeah i also thought about taking Microbiology....wow this will at least take me 2 years!
