I am applying to UNC Pharmacy School in the fall of 2010, and I have a question about two of their prerequisites. What classes fullfil the Global Issue, and U.S. Diversity part of their prerequisites. I have tried calling the UNC but every time time I do get some weird voice mail recording and I can never talk to an actual person. I would great appreciate it if someone could tell me what classes I could take to get these prerequisites out of the way.

I'm not sure about UNC but my multicultural film class satisfied my diversity requirement for Hilo. If you can't reach someone by phone, why not email them? If emailed questions to several schools and have always gotten a pretty prompt response.

Yea I should have done that but I figured that someone would be their to answer question by phone and I waited too late to figure out what those requirements deal with and my last day to add/drop classes is Friday and I doubt that they would reply that fast but I submitted the question to them also. I was hoping that someone on here might have already applied to UNC and know what classes fit under those two categories. Still got a couple of days so hopefully someone will read the question and have an answer. For the U.S. diversity I'm guessing like African American history or classes like that would fulfill that requirement but im not sure. Thanks for your reply though.

does unc have a course equivalency website?

if not, e-mails seem to be the best mode of communication for things like that

Hi. I work in the communications office at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. A heads up for those of you who have questions about applying to UNC: We will be holding an information session for prospective PharmD applicants on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 4-6 p.m. ET. If you are unable to make it in person, we'll be livestreaming this session and there will be an accompanying live chat, where you can submit questions and have them answered in real time. You can tune in at:

http://www.pharmacy.unc.edu/news/sc...prospective-applicant-information-session-9-9

We also livestreamed our first information session back in August. The video from that is at:

Hope that helps.

Oh, gosh. These requirements were new in 2006 and they are ridiculously specific. Here is a link to the course equivalency website. It's not a complete list but you can check to see if anything you've taken (or plan to take) at your university has transferred sucessfully in the past.

https://s4.its.unc.edu/sis/adm/xfereq.html

Once you know what the equivalent courses at UNC are, then you can use the course search engine to see if they are US Diversity or Global Issues.

Hope this is useful. Even if you have luck with this you still may want to send the SOP an email to make sure it's acceptable.

Are you going to complete your bachelor's degree first? If you do earn a BS/BA before you enter the UNC school of pharmacy then you don't have to complete the general education requirements.
