Prerequisites aren't that difficult.

I feel like all the pre-meds should switch to Psych and Econ. Definitely more useful than trying to pre-study first-year-med-school Biochemistry.

Another way to bypass gen-chem hell: Pass AP Chem with a 5. Instantly have credits for Gen Chem I and II without taking them 😀

Of course this only works if you can actually pull off an A in Gen Chem III (which I did).

I heard econ's probably more dull then sociology. Psychology is probably the most popular pre-professional degree now adays. It's got a good mix of testing writing capacity and learning actually applicable things. It also in my opinion is the only field which actually has you learn how to preform experiments and opperationalize variables ( factors) and placebo's as well as use stat's + it gives you a lot of time to peruse pre-med or a second major.
If you don't like chem then why are you a biochem major lol? Masochist's for physical chem?

I think my school is weird but they accept the CREDIT for AP courses, but if it is a course required for your major/minor, you MUST still take the institution's course. A lot of students that took AP Chemistry actually didn't do too well. Basically you needed to work your ass off freshman year but once you hit sophomore year it is pretty much smooth sailing. Some people have Orgo trouble but overall not a big deal.

Gen Chem (college) was the first time I have ever seen chemistry. I only took physics in high school.

A lot of my friends said that AP chem was completely useless.

😕

I bet they didn't pass the AP test too?

Well most of my friends droped it half way in. The teacher couldn't teach and taught from the ap test prep book. They did nuclear chem as there chapter 4 lol. So there biased haha a bit lol.

There's these people called psychiatrists ;p

psychology -> medicine?

Nah .. haven't taken a psych course since - I was just super interested when we got to the neuron stuff (dealing with senses) and I did really well on the exam involving Neurobiology. I didn't know if I was capable of "being smart" during high school. I did well but I just glided through not caring. It wasn't until I was challenged by this course that I gained the confidence and learned how to properly study. Was interested in medicine (not seriously) before but had zero confidence to actually pursue until AP Psych. Gen Chem almost killed me off.

Contrary to pop belief psychology and psychiatry are very different. Psychology's tools are talk therapy and life style changes ( diet + exercise). Psychiatrist's are physicians meaning they use primarily drugs and don't have much time for actual talk therapy.

Or easier ones. I can't imagine an easier pre-req class than my Physics II (calc-based) class. Basically, the professor had 10 quizzes worth 10 points each, and the final was worth 20 points. However, the class was graded out of 100 points, so if you got A on all the quizzes (which I did), you don't have to take the final.

I went to UCSD.
