Both stress and pressure can be defined as Force/area.

Im wondering what the exact difference between the two is..
Is it that pressure is force perpendicular to the surface/area and that for stress, force doesnt need to be perpendicular??

Yes you have it correct. Pressure is usually though of from an external force, stress is usually thought of something internal. But the whole perpendicular thing is the more important distinction.
