Fellow SDNers-
The day finally arrived and my MCAT was released..... 26 (V11/P7/B8). Pretty discouraged because I felt okay coming out of it and studied for 2 solid months, 5 hours+, 5 days a week. I'm just not really sure if I should bag it for this cycle, study like crazy and take it again later to be in good position for next cycle. I have a 3.54 sGPA and a 3.41 cGPA. ECs 4 years in EMS, 3.5 year Trauma Tech, good DO letter and solid committee letter. Also sat on board for a multi-million dollar philanthropy for 2 years, teaching assistant for 2 courses in my undergrad. BS in Business, non-trad, non URM with a 3.8 post bacc GPA. Any advice?

Those are some good grades and crazy strong ECs. I definitely would apply this year. Look up stats for where you're competitive and apply to those schools.

You should totally apply with your 26. I would - I'm taking my MCAT next May. Anyways, your GPA is competitive, especially your sGPA. Your MCAT is probably middle of the line, also average. Your EC's are strong. I don't see how you won't land several interviews and acceptances. Were you trying to go to CCOM or the Touros or something like that? If that's the case, I would understand why you would want to take it again. Otherwise, you most definitely should apply broadly and you will get into a middle tier DO school.

I applied to 20 schools, including all the new programs. LMU-DCOM is my first choice as I have strong ties to the area. I may be just overthinking it, but I've put a lot on the line with a pricey post-bacc and leaving a very good job to pursue it. That being said, I also can't imagine doing anything else for the rest of my life so I need to be as persistent as I can. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it!

I wouldn't worry if I were you. Your numerical stats are competitive and your EC's are very, very strong. You'll be fine and get into several schools in my opinion.

@osteohack10 ... You stats are competitive for most (75%) DO schools... Apply ASAP!

Quit fussing and start applying broadly. You'll get plenty of IIs, my school included.

I had very similar stats and ECs. I had no problem getting into multiple schools. Don't worry.

Good luck.

just wanted to say hi to Kennen, MD.

(sorry)
