Was anyone previously pre-med and then decided to become pre-dental? And if so what was your reason? 😎

i was pre med up until sophomore year of college. i had two boyfriends in college (not at the same time!) who were both predental, so i became somewhat interested from them. then i worked at a dental office over the summer after sophomore year, and researched the profession more seriously. i will not lie, the lifestyle, money and shorter period of schooling (because you are not required to do a residency) fits what i want out of life more than medicine would. i also like the business aspect, autonomy, and lower chance of getting sued and lower chance of seriously hurting someone in the event that as an imperfect human i were to make a mistake or mess something up during treatment. I don't want that kind of responsibility. anyways, do a search and there are a hundred threads about medicine vs. dentistry. seems like lots of pre meds like to come on here and ask your same question. good luck.

I was and even applied to med school, had 5 interviews to. 28 mcat, 11 bio, 10 phys, 7 verbal 🙁. Glad i wasn't accepted b/c i really wnat my own business and not life threating surgeries. Thuse all that remains is dermatology (pretty lame in my mind) and plastic surgery (litigation WAY too high, but at least you don't deal with insurance much). Dental is own business, lower ammount of HMO, hands on work in a non-trauma environment most of the time and great variety for general.
