The following are all forms of prezygotic reproduction isolation mechanisms except.

a. gametic
b. mechanical
c. reduced hybrid viability
d. ecological
e. temporal

The answer from barron is c. reduced hybrid viability.

why lo? Thanks. What exactly is reduced hybrid viability?

Reduced hybrid viability is a post-zygotic reproductive isolation mechanism. It means that if two species produce an "offspring" is basically aborted soon after fertilization, or continues to live but for a drastically shorter period of time than the normal member of either of the two sepcies.

The rest are prezygotic, which means that these mechanisms prevent fertilization from even occuring to begin with.

it's kinda like....you hook up with this drunk chic one night. couple months later, she locates your ass and tells you she was pregnant but had it aborted. it's post-zygotic cuz you already hooked up. and the hybrid never had a chance to live cuz it got aborted!
