Does anyone have an idea what percentage of labs do primary vs reflex testing for HPV, and does that vary based on whether the lab is academic, commercial, or community based?

Are any of you in the process of converting to primary HPV, or have you already converted? What is your experience?

Thank you.

Doesn't matter what the lab thinks. It's whatever your clients want to do. FDA just approved self collection HPV tests so that is obviously where it is heading unless there is pushback.

Provider dependent here; some do HPV as primary screen, most still collect & send paps with reflex testing on ASCUS. Have a discussed a few times with various providers and we always defer to pap test with reflex unless clinician thinks low risk.
Pap volume definitely down but we still muster ~20-25k paps/yr.
