Hi, has anyone taken Princeton Review's DAT Prep? If so, what did you think about it? They opened up a new one here in LA, costs about 800 something, so I was wondering how it compared to Kaplan's?
Some of you may says this class doesn't exist, but it does. Only reason why PR doens't post up a DAT prep class on their website is because this class is only offered in Southern California.

Here's what I know about PR, other than they are Kaplan's competition. When I taught for Kaplan from what I understand, they don't hire teachers that don't have a degree of some kind. As a result, they don't have people that have actually taken the test or are trying to get in or have gotten in to Dental school. I found that the teachers at Kaplan knew the apps process when I took the course, and I got to know before and while I was teaching it. I would go with Kaplan just because it's a tried and true group. Also, I don't think PR offers a Higher score guarantee. Which is, if you go to all the classes and do all the homework, if you don't feel ready, or don't score well on the DAT regardless of whether you get a 15 or a 20 (and let's say you want a 21), you can retake it for free. I wouldn't endorse Kaplan just because I used to work there, but because I used the product and I got in to D school. I know that the PR classes exist, but I don't think they are superior to Kaplan's and if they aren't as good, what's the point?

I've heard the exact opposite from a lot of students at my school. I had a lot of friends take PR for MCAT and for DAT and they all liked it. Rumor or not, I've heard Kaplan just isn't that great. I bet lots of people take it and like it. Me? I did PR. I am very happy with my DAT score (except PAT but I guess that was the allignment of the planets 🙄 ) Anyway My .02 is take a class that you know other people have taken and done well with. I also waited for 2 weeks after my course ended to review nonstop before the test, and for me, I think that helped my score a lot too. Good luck taking the dat to all.

I didn't know the Princeton Review has a DAT course? They have an MCAT course. From those who took MCAT courses at both places, I have heard that TPR has better teaching but that Kaplan has better resources. I think you can get more use out of Kaplan if you are self motivated. Kaplan doesn't have as much class room time and "homework" like TPR but they have a more extensive library of practice questions and tapes than TPR. Does TPR even have tapes and a libary? Well, I guess your interest in a review course means you aren't gong to follow your friend's advice and take it cold. 😀

hmm.. both classes seem to be good, I guess I'll just buy the kaplan blue book and take PR classes.

I would recommend Kaplan. I took two times. The second retake class costed like 200 dollars something like that as I remembered. I had 2 great Kaplan teachers. One of my Kaplan teachers is in Harvard MD/PhD program, and he is awesome. It was absolutely great help.

Kaplan has extensive problem sets for DAT. They're really helpful. If I were you, I'd go for Kaplan from my personal experience.... although Princeton Review is also great.

Princeton Review used to have a DAT course but does not offer it anymore. Back when I was preparing for the DAT I, too, researched Princeton Review and came up empty. I searched e-bay for old books but came up empty again. I just went to www.princetonreview.com and, still, nothing is mentioned about the DAT. My 2 cents. Good luck everyone!! 👍

I also thought Princeton Review was obsolete. Even if Princeton Review exists now, it would be 2 hour lecture per subject, which is less than Kaplan's 3 hours per session. Correct me, I might be wrong. Just my 2 cents.
