How long does it take you all to get prior authorization for procedures? Everything I do has been in ASC and the auths have been taking 2-3 weeks. Not acceptable for those in severe pain. Thanks.

I’m talking about mostly bcbs, Aetna, Cigna etc

few days, sometimes same day

Auths can take days to weeks. If you actually call the insurance company, for commercial, you can sometimes get same day approval.

If you mark urgent and call Medicaid, 3-4 days, otherwise 2 weeks before you'll get the denial because they didn't read your note.

In office, same day usually, with essentially all commercial players except Humana.

In ASC, two weeks at least.

I am ASC only but I have my own insurance staff, she can usually get things approved in 5 business days or less. Part of it is getting on the phone. It also makes it faster to set up peer to peer calls.
