I called AMCAS to demand an explanation as to why my application has not been verified for the last 14 weeks. She says she'll put me in the "priority list," but my question is, how long is this going to take? Anyone else in this "priority list?" I asked her if she had any idea whether I would be verified at the end of this month which would put me well over 4 months since submitting the damn application and she said: "I can't answer that!" What is a person to do?

I'm on the supposed priority list also. Puhlease...who are they fooling. That was about 2-3 weeks ago, and still nothing has occurred. It's embarrassing I have one poor med school searching everywhere for my app that AMCAS claimed they sent. So now, today the supervisor will be calling AMCAS and finding out what happened to it....doesn't help that I have other schools who aren't even looking at my stuff because my 6/26 submitted app is still not verified.

The priority list is B.S. (not to be mistaken with the degree). I was on the priority list for a month. I spoke with a manager at AAMC he told me there are thousands on the priority list. Basically what has happened is early applicants got stiffed because the application program, when it was first set up, had a bunch of bugs. So when they fixed the program with patches, the patches could not help those people who already submitted because they were stored in their system incorrectly. So it is hard for the "verifiers" to pull up your information on the system. There is also an LARGE disconnect between the people verifying the application and those who you speak to on the phone. The lines of communication and the fundamental understanding of the problem by the front end service people are tattered.

Basically, I hate to say it, don't expect too much from Priority Status... My advice get a managers name and his/her direct phone number and hound them about your application.

E'01 I feel your anguish about medical schools not even looking at you because of no application. Even though my application was finally verified after 11 weeks, several medical schools have not received the application and will not look even look at me (even though I submitted their secondaries in early August).

Good luck to all...

E'01, I feel your pain. I, too, submitted my application early and have been waiting. It's mostly frustating to know that some schools are not even looking at my application, waiting on verification from AMCAS, which I question will ever happen by the end of this year. We talk about patience and our need for it at times like this but I honestly don't think Gandhi or the Dalai Lama would have patience for this. I guess it's all about luck and hoping someone will see your application and say, "hey, this person submitted theirs 3 months ago, should I verify it?" The specialist replies, "I guess I should..."
