Hello Everyone,
I am taking my prerequisite for dental school right now. There is one thing I want to double check which is if I take dental assistant license and work with dentists while I am finishing my predental requirement, will that increase my chance to get into the dental program? Does it worth trying it while I won't be able to do dental assistant program and predental requirement at the same time? I was thinking if I go with the dental assistant path, I might delay myself one year to get my predental requirement done. What do you guys think? Has anyone applied to dental school with dental assistant experience?

Please help answering this question.

MOST dental students get into dental school without experience as a dental assistant. That would be something to set you apart and give you a slight edge if you are in the middle of the pack with your GPA and DAT. GPA and DAT are by far the most important factors.
