While I am a supporter of the second amendment I don't demonstrate my support by shooting/collecting guns as a pass time. Instead for my expensive vice I like flying.

I received my private pilot certificate today. Started this summer. Nice to be done. Had a lot of fun with it. Next taildraggers and then an instrument ticket. I'm a long way from "jet prop" status, in more than one way. 🙂

I'm not sure too many civilians get the opportunity to call that their ride.

That's a good looking plane, I think it may be the same that my uncle owns (and has held up for his frequent flying over 20+ years). He let me take the controls for 15 min in flight, but my experience ends there. I hope to do what you're doing some day, definitely caught the bug!

Being an Instrument Pilot is analogous to being a piano player at

It allows you and trains you to navigate an airplane somewhere

WITHOUT EVER SEEING THE GROUND OR THE SKY OR ANYTHING BUT THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OF YOUR AIRPLANE.

INSTRUMENT TICKET.

Taildragger sign off? Yeah, cool man. But it's not gonna change your life as an aviator.

Don't worry Jet. The taildraggers will be a 1 or 2 month detour. My private instructor is a CFII. He's already told me I'll be doing instruments. During my private training he took me out in a day of real IMC, no hood, and made me do holding patterns and shoot a VOR approach and a GPS approach. He ran the nav gear and coms. It was better than hood time to feel how the clouds can really mess your your spatial orientation. I will get my instrument rating next, then hopefully be close to my commercial before I leave the Navy.
