Hello, I am a high school senior now, and I am interested in Dentistry. The reason I posted this in the "big boy" forum is because I have a question about Dentists who own their own practice how the provide healthcare for themselves. I understand there are programs that offer this to your business, but what is the expense of this and how hard is it to obtain. How many dentists work in the hospital? I understand they have good healthcare, and what would a hospital dentist do exactly? Surgery I imagine. To simplify, what I'm asking is how does one obtain healthcare as a Dentist if they own a private practice, and how good is it?

I did try a search on this but only found a few results on Hospital dentistry and those were mostly pros and cons. Perhaps different wording might help?

Thank you all,

CW

You would meet with an insurance broker to find a plan for small businesses. It all depends on how much you want to pay. I've worked at practices that did not offer healthcare insurance and practices that had amazing plans.

This is really a minor issue when it comes to practice management.

You just buy it directly with the insurance company or through your trade group. The problem is it can be very expensive and, unfortunately, the recent health care reform didn't solve that problem it was supposed to solve.
