From the SDN postings since 2008 and from what I remember, I just noticed that if DAT taker's GPA is high like +3.6, most of them got PIANO passage....(may be true or not....)

ADA knows the exam taker's approximate GPA because when we apply for DAT, we designate our gpa range....(3.6-4.0 or 3.1-3.5)

If it is true, it is not a fair game....

Is there anyone who got piano passage with below 3.6gpa ?

I can't believe the piano passage had been around for a long time and there is no leakage of its content. We are all afraid of ADA hunt us down via IP address and cancel our acceptance!

lol, there is no way you will determine the probability based on the stats. A+ for trying though 🙂

I had the piano passage during my first take of the DAT in July of 2007 with a 3.2 GPA. It wasn't the easiest passage but I think it's overhyped.

It's just too much to remember and regurgitate.

Don't have to be the whole content just what is it about, How piano is created? who created? How to play piano? musical notes? not even the summary get leak out. BECAUSE of this I can conclude that THEY REUSE THEIR QUESTIONS so the more practice exams you do the better!

"How is the DAT scored and what are the average DAT scores?
The DAT is scored on a scale of 1 30, but it is not a linear scoring system. Your score is based on the number of questions you answered correctly in comparison to others who answered those questions correctly in the past and then calculated through some unknown formula. It is possible that one person could answer only one question wrong and get a 25 for that section, while another person who also only got one question wrong on the same section but a different set of questions receives a 28 for that section. Also, a 20 on a section does not mean you answered one third of the questions incorrectly in fact you may have answered 90% of the questions correctly."

Only problem with your theory is that portion is completely optional.

It was merely a survey. You didn't have to provide them with anything. I didn't provide anything that wasn't required.

Honestly the piano passage is made out to be a monster that bigger than it truly is.

Because its been made into a monster everyone who ends up getting it freaks out, they go OMG I got the piano passage and blanks.

If you practice your strategy with RC it is just another passage. If you didn't bother and figure it'll just be science passages and you can answer most questions from knowledge then you're setting yourself up to fail. Its Reading Comprehension. Not science reading comprehension.

If the piano passage is mostly given to folks with 3.6+ GPAs, isn't there a legal term for that, one that would sum it up as being an illegal act? Besides, wtf does GPA have to do with reading comprehension? There is no way in hell this is true, the whole point of taking the DAT is to have a "stable" system to rank you against EVERYONE else. Profiling people based on their GPAs is not inductive of a stable and fair ranking system.

Interesting imagination, but Im afraid none of it is true

there is also another reason... if you leak it, the thread gets deleted, so no one gets a chance to REALLY see it and know what its about.

I hope I won't get the piano passage.....I noticed I am getting nervous b/c piano passage....anyway thanks for you guys!!! what a quick reply!!!

I hope I won't panic even if I get that passage....

I think people need to stop trying to get a leg up. The exam is scored by percentiles so just do your best on it and your score will reflect that. Asking for passage content seems illegal to me...

Not to worry. If you do not get "piano-ed" you are certain to get "___ed" with another passage with at least the same degree of difficulty.
