Okay so I was looking at the drexel site, to get an idea of stats. Could someone give me an explanation of this...

12,005 Applicants
42,145 National applicants
1,330 interviews
256 class size

I don't understand the context, "applicants vs. national applicants"

What does this mean? Shouldn't there just be, "total number of applicants?"

there's no way 40,000 people applied to Drexel Med in one year. unless there's an alternate, obscure definition of national here.

I think National applicants means the total number of students that applied to any medical school that year.

I believe that National Applicants means the total number of people who applied to an accredited US allopathic med school. "Applicants" means the total number of people who actually submitted an application to Drexel (12,005), of whom 1330 received interviews.

No kidding. This statistic reveals why there are no "safety schools." The admissions process at virtually every allopathic school is extremely competitive. There are no "easy" schools.

Well some undergraduate universities already get 40k+ applications. I think UCLA got that many last year. Although medical school admissions may be more exhaustive and time consuming.
