Probably too late to submit an AMCAS right?

I scored a 499 (124/123/124/128) August 1st and then I received my new scores yesterday of a 512 (126/130/126/130). I got 2 interviews with the 499 for DO schools already. I thought I would not get anything close enough for MD so I never completed an AMCAS. My gpa is not impressive though: cGPA: 3.51 and sGPA: 3.298 (or probably 3.3 with AMCAS). ECs include chorus, biomedical (breast cancer) research, patient companion volunteering, receptionist/clinical assistant (not MA/CNA), AMSA/volunteering, fun & fit awareness volunteering for kids, gym training, innovation minor/projects & various forms of shadowing. Solid LORs.
Some people have mentioned I should still apply MD if applications are still "open". I'm sure it's probably too late to submit an AMCAS, but I thought I should ask just in case I was wrong. I am happy with osteopathic medicine regardless. Thanks for all advice. 🙂

First off, I am a pre-med who has not taken the MCAT or applied (obviously), so I am only repeating what I have read on here from members whom I trust. Your jump from a 499 to a 512 is really good and you should be proud of yourself! Awesome job. But yes, it is too late to apply and feel like you are not wasting your money. It would take quite a while to get verified, so you would be set back even longer. Add on to that writing quality secondaries and sending them out. Also, the kids who are getting interviews and acceptances despite applying so late are rockstars with 4.0s along with your MCAT and higher. I'm sure once you update the DO schools with your jump in MCAT coupled with your seemingly good ECs, you will have no problems getting in. Best of luck!

It's too late for MD now, especially with your sgpa being below average also. See how DO goes and if you don't get into a school you like see about next cycle.

Thank you I appreciate your honesty! That's what I figured. Like if I had got this earlier I'd have a fair shot. I personally prefer the osteopathic methods of practice, but I have some concerns about residencies. Though, now that I have a higher score, hopefully I will get into a DO school that has a good track record.

I'm also no expert but I'm also not sure if the 512 would even leave you very competitive for MD school especially given your GPA.... While a 512 is a very good score, conventional SDN advice is to average all MCATs which would leave you at a 505-6 which unless you are also URM is gunna be a stretch for most MDs

Thank you very good point!

Congrats on the jump. 499 to 512 wow. If you're okay with DO schools, you may still have a shot with updating it. But if you really want MD schools then wait and apply next cycle. Your GPA isn't stellar but it ain't terrible either.

If you already put together a primary, is it kinda late to send out primaries to more schools? I was hoping to add 1 or 2 more. Secondary questions are basically the ones I have already written so it would be copy-paste

It's been done but at this point in the year you're at a pretty big disadvantage.

Suggest trying your state MD school, but that's it.

If you didn't miss the deadlines (buy msar) I say go for it! I've heard lots of n=1 stories from students on panels who applied super late and got in. Congrats on the score jump 🙂

Does anyone understand why amcas is only letting me put high school as the academic year? I'm really confused.
