I've heard many people say that FPs can learn a lot of in-office procedures at these weekend conferences and get certified in the procedure and be able to bill for said procedure

how true is this?

where can i find out about these conferences?

it's what I'm going to have to do....I've been flat out told that I'm not learning any procedures that other specialties do here at my program.....

does anyone know if you still get reimbursed for doing the procedure via the insurance compnay if you attend any of these programs?

If you bill for it, you get paid for it, assuming it's covered. Training and competency is up to you.

Bump..

Speaking with my dad last weekend (a general internist in private practice). .. He said a few of his FP friends and med school classmates that are FPs are doing many specialist procedures like EGDs, colonoscopies, fluoroscopy, derm,...etc

How true is this really?? Are these people exaggerating or does this really happen?

Is this the future of primary care??

Endoscopy has long been something FPs are capable of doing. It usually takes a good bit of extra effort in residency to pull it off, but its certainly doable.

Most of us do derm stuff. How much depends on you, although I think its worth noting that at the national meeting next month there are lots of workshops on derm including some laser work.
