So, AMCAS finished processing my application quite speedily. I am pretty sure that the schools I applied to can't see my application yet, but AMCAS says:

AMCAS Processing is Complete

Application has been made available to the designated medical schools.
Is it just a typo? Or is it "available" but not really available until the date AMCAS says at login?

Thanks!

I don't think the AMCAS apps are released to the designated schools until late June (at least that's what we were told last year).

Hope that helps a bit.

Good luck either way and congrats on getting in a ridiculously early AMCAS app 🙂

That was my understanding, but the wording is a bit misleading of so. I guess I'll know if I start getting some secondaries soon. I think I got really lucky on the timing: I checked in the morning once, when I got to work, and then after a meeting with my boss, and it just happened to be open the that third time.

You will start getting secondaries before then... Hell, some of the people who submit later on in the process start getting secondaries even before verification.

That June 24th or whatever date is the first day AMCAS makes full applications available to the schools, but once you hit the submit button, AMCAS lets them have a quick blurb about you (it has your name and contact information, don't know if theres anything else). Quite a few schools that don't screen will send secondaries out before they even see the full application.

Yeah, to elaborate on what Raryn is saying, you can get a secondary from a school once the school knows that you have applied to them.

That is to say, schools can know that you submitted your AMCAS app to them without actually HAVING the AMCAS app.

Thank you, that explains it!

Bet they just want our money.

beat me to it. 😉

yeah, this is FOR SURE why schools send them so early. and why they don't screen beforehand. i mean, let's be honest here... why would a school WANT to receive thousands upon thousands of secondaries when they could pre-screen (a la vanderbilt) and trim down that number a bit? moolah!

Thanks Raryn...

I still don't understand why the submit button is still up( looks clickable) on my AMCAS page even though AMCAS says processing is complete. Do I have to click it again in order to complete my application or am I done already? I was expecting it to get faded out like the withdraw application button (and I was actually expecting the withdraw button to become clickable). Since the submit button looks like I can click it, I am tempted to just to see what happens haha.

later on, you could add a LOR or mcat score or something and click submit, if that makes you feel better
