Just wondering if anyone has an affinity for a-holes?

Physicians are needed in all areas, I was just wondering if any SDNers are interested in devoting their career to the bum and its components?

Be honest. :D

Scooby told me he's leaning towards male hemorrhoid removal. Don't know if he wants to do proctology or do it as a hobby. --Trek

Is this actually the term for this specialty? Wouldn't it fall into the realm of GI guys or colorectal surgeons?

They're called colorectal surgeons now and I actually did a 2 week clerskhip with these guys. While not the most glamorous of professions, they do very well and serve a very important role.

GI bleeds can be very fatal, and it is common. Think of anyone who is an alcoholic, a lot of them get GI bleeds. Getting a colonoscopy isn't too fun though. I have the pictures to prove it!

Anyone see the Seinfeld episode when Kramer gets the license place "ASSMAN" ? That was hilarious.

Commonly a much-maligned speciality, Colorectal Surgery actually has its advantages.

Chief among them are lifestyle - almost all of the surgeries are planned, elective cases; the patients tend to do well (ie, not many SICU cases) and don't stay in house much longer than 5-7 days (barring complications of course). There will always be some emergency cases, but CRS, while distasteful for many reasons, does attract for the above (and certainly other) reasons.

colorectal surgery is actually a goal i have in school--and, as my dad says-- you are the "butt" of many good jokes-- but you laugh all the way to bank!!
Plus, proctologists, as a whole, tend to have a really good sense of humor

i have a deep interest in that field. a very deep, deep interest <img border="0" alt="[Wowie]" title="" src="graemlins/wowie.gif" />

PS. favorite proctologist joke: Wanna smell my finger?

my favorite joke-- my dad's at the bank and pulls out a rectal thermometer and says to the teller-- hey! some bum stole my pen!!!
