I always thought proctology was a specialty that you end up in when you lose a big bet in med school. Or maybe punishment for slacking off. Seriously though, are there students out there saying, "God, I really want to know more about the rectum!"

You should see what proctologists aka GI docs charge for an endoscopy...

They make an ass load.

colorectal surgery is, i believe, what proctology is now called? The internal medicine side of it is GI.

I think a proctologist is a dr. the same way a podiatrist is a dr. Although I have yet to get mail begging for my application from proctology schools.
