Does anyone have a great quote from a great professor that they have harbored away in the recesses of their mind? I thought it would be good to share some quips that ya'll may have taken from your time in your studies.

One of my favorites actually happened just last night, and while it isn't at the top, it sits fairly close to it. Let me preface it by saying that this man is an amazing analyst, a wonderful teacher, and a good friend. He is highly perceptive to what goes on around him, and has keen insight into so many of life's issues - also, he is a snazzy dresser.

On Freud and Psychoanalysis - "Although Freud gets a lot of flack for some of his methods, his whole point of psychoanalysis was to get past the outer shell, the candy coating, and get to the core of hunmanity: the armpits and a**holes of life - it's in those moments of searching that we truly find out who we are."

Half the class was wide-eyed and slackjawed, but I think it was his intention.

Please share your favorite quotes (if you can remember them).

My second year Research Methods prof getting up on the front table and yelling, "CORRELATION DOES NOT EQUAL CAUSATION!". His rather interesting teaching method worked, it's impossible for anyone that saw that to ever forget that line haha.

I had a professor for Human Sexuality that stood in front of the classroom, stuck his arms out to his sides. Then explained that in his hands would be the ovaries, his arms the fallopian tubes...and you get the rest. Most of the class was beside themselves in semi-embrassment for the guy. Our problem was we were not understanding the anatomy very well.

A classic line uttered by a grad student at my undergrad program, who later dropped out of the program to move across the country to be closer to her married-to-someone-else internet-boyfriend.

"Neurons are important for neuronial functioning"

"Judging from this video, you'd think that wearing strange hats was a symptom of childhood bipolar disorder."

Full professor who is guest lecturing for a grad student instructor in abnormal psych. The prof is also the grad student's mentor. We were discussing sex drives.

'Particularly in their college years, some people like me view sex as an accomplishment or achievement. I mean, "some people." I think I just revealed too much about myself.'

A simple question was asked of a social work professor to clarify a point. She took a deep breath and said, "I don't want to re-invent the wheel. . ." After ten minutes, I was doing everything to keep from nodding off and realized that while she didn't reinvent the wheel. . . she made it. . . square.

"I like Freud. He is like different from everyone else. But sometimes he talks too much about sex stuff. It makes people feel like having sex."

My favorite undergrad prof. in asking the class about paradigms; you may have heard it:

"What is a paradigm? Anyone? It's 20 cents!"

No one laughed but me...
