Professional Schools vs. University Based School

I have read a lot of scattered information about the problems with professional schools of psychology. I am interested in better understanding why professional schools are considered to be inferior to university based programs. What does the evidence show about the quality of professional schools? Even though match rates are lower with professional school, why do any of their students get placed; if the quality is inferior, wouldn't this be evidenced by the graduates of these programs? Again, I am just interested in reading others' opinions about this issue.
