What are some examples of professional societies you all are including?

I have PBK from college and AMA from medical school. Do those count?

I by the way have not done anything with PBK nor AMA since joining.

Also should PBK be under the "Honorary Societies" or "Other Awards" sections?

I also joined a society from a specialty I have since chosen not to apply to, after going to their yearly conference twice. Since it is a completely different specialty should I not include that?

I would like to know this too.

AMA = you pay money and you join = might as well report your gym membership on your ERAS application, IMHO.

PBK = a true honor society, fine to list it in awards/accomplishments. But honestly, I doubt anyone will care anymore. It helped you get into medical school. Now people care about awards / accomplishments in medical school.

We like to see participation in a specialty-specific professional society (american college of emergency physicians, american academy of emergency medicine, etc...)

It is not required nor does it get you extra points.

You can get some extra points for holding an office in the professional society, but just holding membership means nothing.

It is nice to see though...
