I am finishing my dissertation in psychology this year and I just had a conversation with a chair of Psychiatry department at a school. He asked me about my plans after graduation and I told him that I am interested to do post doctoral fellowship in psychiatry at medical school. He suggested that I also think about faculty position at medical school.
I know that this forum includes people who might be too busy with residency right now to know about appointment at medical school but he offers me full time with kind of arrangement of being paid 50% from the school and the rest will be paid through psychotherapy work at the hospital. At the same time he suggested that I could work at the school forever which I assume means tenure track. I am interested in research and I have experience in teaching and wouldn't mind to teach although my interest is in post-doctoral fellowship so I can invest my time in my research. Is anyone familiar with this type of appointment of 50% of the salary?. I intend down the road to discuss this with him again and express my interest in full-time professor assistant position.
