Hey everyone. I have a question about rec letters. Do rec letters from sci/nonsci professors have to be from actual professors? I'm not sure if someone who I'm getting my rec letter from is a professor. She has a PhD and she is the head microbio lab director. She does teach a bunch of labs, but I'm not sure if she has the title "professor." I'm getting my rec letter from her b/c I know she will write me a strong letter. I may ask her if she is a "professor." not sure yet, what do you guys think?

I had the exact same issue with my microbiology lab professor. I called every admissions on my list to make sure that this would count as a science professor since most schools say that they require one "science faculty." In general, science faculty seems to include anyone who has taught you science in a course that was for a grade. As long as your letter writer makes it clear that they taught you microbiology and include the grade you got in the class in the LoR, you should be fine.

for professors with phd's, i used dr.
