Hi,

I have already asked 2 of my professors in person for letter of recommendations and they both agreed - I sent them a packet full of information including deadline, resume, personal statement about 2 weeks ago. They did not respond to the email - I sent them a follow up email to confirm they received my LOR request but again no response. They normally respond withing 2 hours to any email I've ever sent them and and I am sure all the information is correct.

Does this mean anything? Should i try and visit them in their office to ask if they received the information, or is this normal for most professors once they have agreed to write a LOR?

Thank you

It means they hate you and they've decided to send a mass email to adcoms suggesting that you not only be barred from applying to medical school, but that you be hunted down and tased repeatedly. :scared:

(But maybe you should go visit them in office to make sure)

If you really need the recs, you need to go see them in person again. I had a similar situation and eventually gave up on an initially receptive professor that turned out ignoring every email I sent them and not writing the rec (even though they agreed to). Did they hate me and never intend to? Maybe. Doesn't matter now, since I was accepted to med school. Just in case this happens to you, I suggest you work on getting different letters if possible

True, one of my letter writers did not respond until i was stalking him in his office.

Not a good sign. I would suggest finding alternate writers that can truly advocate for you.

Ok, i admit bad emphasis on the stalking part. I was just trying to say that you might just need to meet with him in person.

Your professor's could just be busy at the moment and decided to put your LORs on the backburner. I'm assuming they know you don't need them until around June.

But it's probably just that they hate you.

2 weeks isn't that much. Give them a few more weeks before you start harassing them.

If you have to stalk your LOR writers, you probably want to find someone else. If they felt that strongly about you they would just get it done, and in a timely manner as well.

👍

One of the first LORs I asked for straight up told me "No, you were not in the top 5% of my class, and I only write letters for my top 5% of my students"
FML... It was only a class of 24 and I got a 96...
haha, at least she was straight-up with me (or a bit insane, I am still not sure...)

One of my profs didn't respond to my email. After 2 weeks I called their office and my email had gotten lost in the hundreds they received that day. I would call or go to their office if you're serious.

Don't tase me bro!

Stern words turn indifference into action. Good Solonius urges action be taken and letters grasped in hand.
