Any opinions on the radiology program at drexel? im a DO student with a 230 USMLE (on the lower side for rads) i know they have a neuroradiology fellowship there, so i was thinking of setting something up in that if possible

also with my score, any other recommendations on programs i should set up an audition at?

I'm interested in this as well. If anybody has any info, I'd love to hear it.

Wouldn't be too worried about neurorads fellowship, they are a dime a dozen....would recommend setting up auditions at places that you have some geographic/indirect academic ties to. Honestly outside of the courtesy interview, not sure if audition interviews do much for you unless you have the numbers to match there in the first place

yep, i like neurorads! it might be cool to rotate with someone there to learn more about it (im not necessarily interested in the drexel neurorads prog..too early for me to even think about that haha) Can anyone comment on the strengths/weaknesses for the drexel rads program? From what I hear they have a few DO residents in addition to their PD being a DO.. I figured for me it might be a good program to look into closely .

@vm26 thanks so much for your input. Are you saying that I should just apply to md programs and not do any aways? Or do a few but don't automatically assume they will consider you JUST because youve done a rotation with them? Apart from geographic location/academic ties to any other recommendations on how to set up 4th year? Sorry for so many questions!

Apply widely (MD and DO) as the only downside is time/money spent on the applications...I would limit away rotations to places that you want to go and that are at least within the range of your step 1 score. Wouldn't waste your time at places that are beyond your reach bc even if you are super-personable and do great during your rotation, I am uncertain whether this will significantly improve your chances...good luck!

Auditions are significantly less important in radiology then most other specialties...the only thing to really "audition' in a reading room is your personality which can do a lot of students more harm then good over the course of a month. I would do one to get a good letter and that's it. As for what programs to apply to I would look at what programs have taken students from your school and DO students in general. I am fairly sure Drexel's program is on the lower end of competitiveness in Philly.

Thank you everyone for their helpful responses!

If I wanted to do an away rotation in a sub speciality of radiology how do I go about setting that up on vsas? for example right now I am with a bunch of residents (good learning experience though) but no face time with PD or any attendings..would like to do a rotation with an attending next year so I have an opportunity to ask for a letter.. Sorry if this is a silly question
