Does anyone know of ACGME anesthesiology residencies also with AOA internship positions?

May not exist but out of despiration, I thought I'd ask.

there are some dually accredited intern years but they are not linked to anesthesiology programs in a categorical way. search at the aoa site for dually approved intern years. in general, most advanced MD programs will accept a DO intern year if it meets the requirements for anesthesiology residencies set forth by the acgme. hope that helps

pay close attention to this part. we have had DO residents in the recent past who showed up July 1st of CA-1 year who did not have all the requirements filled by the DO intern year and are now off cycle by a few months because they had to finish a few extra rotations. our department coordinates with the family medicine dept here to provide an intern year that is acceptable and acts almost like a clinical base year categorical position, from what i understand.

UK has an option to do DO internship. You do 2 months of rotation that differs from MD internship and that's it. You are in sink with the rest of the residents. I think you miss out on 2 months of anesthesia rotation during your intern year.

You can petition the AOA to have your internship year be "D.O." approved. My good buddy here at Vandy did just that with our transitional year. I didn't do it b/c I was not interested in doing the paperwork; worked out well for him given that he is considering working in one of the 5 states.

I believe Oklahoma does as it's one of those five states. I interviewed there and remember them talking about a slightly different year for DO interns VS. MD interns on one or two rotations.
