Program strongly advising to join State medical Society in Onboarding instructions

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Throughout my residency my AMA dues, ASA and state anesthesia society dues were paid for by the GME and residency respectively. I think this is pretty common to have them paid for. If I had to pay myself, I wouldn't have joined them. I'm not sure what it's like for other specialties, but to be in the national ASA, you have to be enrolled in a state society as well.

State medical societies and state specialties societies are the primary groups that work for tort reform in many states. If you have any plans to stay in that state, it is worth considering joining to support those efforts.
