I have to say it's pretty sad that some program websites still refer to material dated back to the early match days. I really urge all of you to look at your host program's website, and if it is out of date, please remind the program coordinator in a friendly manner to update the site so that applicants can have the latest and greatest info. That's a win-win situation for both applicant AND program.

Not only is it a big turnoff seeing references to outdated information, but also having links that go nowhere. Also, while some might disagree, I like to see names and brief bio info on current residents/fellows to get a feel for trends in the accepted applicants, i.e., # of MD/PhDs, FMGs, regional differences, etc., as well as info regarding past alumni and their current positions/fellowships. Websites for Hopkins, Emory, and UTSW, just to name a few, seem fairly updated.

Thanks for starting the thread as this has been something that has been bothering me for quite some time. Some programs like Henry Ford, Mayo and UCincinnati have basically no website for its residency with useful info. It is a shame especially in 2008.

I'm also on the neuro trail this year, and have to agree with this. Some sites have horrible and outdated material which shows they are either not computer savvy or just don't care.

Even some ones on FREIDA do not give accurate and/or incomplete info - there is no reason for this.

UCSF has a decent site. As does UT Southwestern. Baylor is kinda weak. I like UTHSCSA neuro website - look like it has been revamped! UTMB (both programs) have outdated websites. Mayo is ridiculously hard to maneuver. UCLA has a site that works, but is not pleasing to the eye. Any one else see anything extraordinary one way or another?

Ok all you soon-to-be interns and PGY-2s - please try to get your PDs to update the websites with info for the new year (I still see program sites talking about the 2005 Match....very unprofessional). It'd be great to see every program list its residents and their degrees/med school - heck a brief bio would be great (like some programs do) but probably unrealistic.

I second this plea...

Unfortunately, IT professionals charge such a high rate, it is something that could more efficiently accomplished in-house. Then again, residents are not privy to much free time.

I thought most departments websites were designed by the university/medical school and under their budget/done in house? At least that is how it is done at my university; this leads to a standard outlay for each department so that it is easy to navigate within the university. However I guess many schools are behind on the times and don't feel this is necessary which is quite unfortunate. An in house IT department can easily update the designs for the department.

Unfortunately, that site doesn't want to behave very well at all with either Firefox 2 or the latest Camino. 🙁

I am using Firefox 3.0.11 and haven't had a problem with the website.
