So my advisers(all USMD academic attendings) emailed a total of 6 programs on my behalf last month and were completely ignored by PC and PDs. They basically sent a strong letter stating I'm a good student, our home program will me rank me high high blah blah blah. I just sent emails to all of those places last week stating my interest and requesting an application update. I know programs are busy, but being completely ignored by 6 mid tier places my region is super annoying. Are other people having the same results? Should I just start calling places or just throw in the hat?

If they're going to ignore emails from you and your advisers, are they really somewhere you want to end up?

isn't a little early to be sending out that kind of letter...after all its still the middle of interview season...and they sent it out to SIX different programs??

I think you should just drop it. Any more and it will become more of an annoyance imo.

It's not too early to send out emails of interest and have people send emails on your behalf. I would leave it at that otherwise you will come off as real annoying. You did what you could. There are many more qualified (heck, even super amazing) candidates than positions at many programs therefore if you are not getting invites it's because there is something about your application they don't like and you should apply to lower tiers where you will get more bites.

If your home program will rank you highly, then you should be set.

Some programs just have a blanket no contact policy.

Let it go.

Is his pre or post- interview? In otherwords, did these programs not give you an interview and your advisers were fishing for an interview invite? Or are you fishing to see where you are ranked?

I did something like what OP did and got only 1 reply, which was that that program had a no contact policy. Expressing interest is flattering but words are cheap; if you haven't been rejected but haven't been invited to interview, then that is pretty much all the update you need: your application doesn't quite fit what those 6 programs wer looking for.
Plus even if your advisor's best friend, the program director at Dream U IM, gave you a courtesy/pity interview due to your advisor's influence, I doubt that will actually improve your desirability as an applicant to Dream U.

I don't know. It depends on the program. At my program (in EM), we have a few people every year that just barely make the cut and get here and blow us away.
