Sorry if my posts seem repititive. I was wondering if anyone from California or in school in Cali knows of any post-bacc or one-year master's programs out there. I have been doing some research and haven't found any yet.

The Princeton Review Guide to medical school has a listing of post-bac programs. Go to a Barns and Noble and take a glance at it. I believe there is one in San Diego that has a linkage program with Temple University.

There is also a post-bac program at Mills college in Oakland.

UCR has a 1 year Biochemistry M.S. program. I know that UCI/UC Davis/UCSF all have post-bac programs. I hear UCSD does to not sure about UCLA though. I hope that is helpful.

UCI has a very good program, UCD, UCLA and UCSD have the post bac. programs as well. However I believe it is only open to disadvantage students.

SF state and San Jose State have post bac programs as well. There's another school in Oakland, it has a physical therapy and nursing school as well... I can't remember the name of it, anyway, they all have these programs. As far as the special master's programs, the only ones I've heard of are out on the east coast and midwest.

I HIGHLY recommend checking into Scripps College's Post-Bac premed program (in Claremont, part of the Claremont Colleges).

I'm a program alumna myself, and even though it was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life (think taking all your science pre-req's within a 15 month period) <img border="0" alt="[Wowie]" title="" src="graemlins/wowie.gif" /> I have only good things to say about the program itself.

I chose Scripps over Mills and the others because IMO it's a much better structured program, there is a whole post-bac staff dedicated to support the students and it's 15 months instead of 2 years. Upside: 92% of the program graduates get into med school (that stat sold me) Downside: it's expensive, I just had to think of it as an additional year of med school. 🙄

Here's the contact info if you're interested in getting more specifics. Also feel free to PM me.
