Does anyone here have the links to post-bacs/masters programs that have guaranteed or at least verryyyy high matriculation rates to dental school? I'm applying this cycle and think I stand a decent shot but I want to explore all possible avenues to getting into schools.

I'm not aware of any program that has an automatic articulation into dental school. And for the record, if so, I don't consider such programs fair.

If that was the case, why would I have tried so hard during my undergraduate years?

Work hard in undergrad and you should be fine.

Perhaps so you can apply to many different dental schools instead of being forced into one and have your choice of programs, and get in somewhere cheaper, and not have to spend extra money and time on a post-bac or masters, and learn to realize that just because you took the traditional path to dental school doesn't mean that those who didn't don't work as hard as you do

To OP, the thread Hi Im dent posted looks solid. If you think you stand a decent shot, you probably don't need one of those programs. Those are mainly GPA fixers anyway. If your GPA is fine and you don't get in, you're better off exploring other avenues

I agree. Consider those programs if you have silence halfway through your application cycle and you believe you can improve your GPA. But if you are confident in your stats, I'm sure you can get in.

I'm not saying they don't work hard per say, but working extremely hard for 4 years doesn't equate to a year of hard work. It is not fair.

Temple has a program that leads to a guaranteed interview..so does Midwestern.
Both Barry and Rutgers have programs with high success rate.
No masters program exists that leads to a guaranteed acceptance. That's a med school thing that hasn't transferred over to the dental world yet.

Doing an SMP is like putting all of your eggs into one basket. If it doesn't help you get into dental schools, what are you going to do? If your undergrad GPA is fine, but you still want to do a masters anyway, then your look into a traditional one that is actually marketable.

Calm down. Nobody said it did. Don't you think people who need the extra year would rather not have to take it? Most programs like OP wants are guaranteed interview to one place but getting accepted is still on you! Just like how if you go to an interview and you act superior to people with lower stats because you assume you worked harder you probably won't get in.

If you want to get mad about unfairness, get mad at 8 year dental programs that guarantee and acceptance when you're in high school! But don't come on this thread and give your unwanted opinion because I guarantee you OP does not care if you think it's unfair

To contribute to the thread Texas A&M has one as well.

OP asked if anyone knew if such programs exist, not how fair people think it is.

I had to work full time in college. I had to help my parents with home expenses because they couldn't afford it. I went to high school where drugs and gang fights ran rampant, because we couldn't afford to live in a better area. My father was not a dentist that was able to afford my education and all my expenses. In fact, my parents have no education at all.
Instead of crying about the hand I was dealt and how FAIR it is, I moved forward. You should consider yourself very lucky. You do not know anyone's situation, yet you are very quick to judge them and say "they didn't work hard enough."
It sounds like you are quite the priveleged little princess. Maybe you're the one who didn't work hard enough.

On second thought, I don't know your situation either, so I won't judge you. However, when it comes to these threads, please add something constructive or not at all. People come on here asking for help, not to be judged or put down by you.
Thank you.

I have FlowerGirl or whatever on ignore so I don't see his/her posts, but I'm willing to bet my admission into dental school that you are responding to them.

:corny:

Anyway, to OP. Midwestern does have one that guarantees an interview, like mentioned above. Doesn't guarantee an acceptance though and I'm betting it's quite pricey.

Lol what gave it away?
Right that's the other thing about almost all of these programs and almost all of the schools they'll lead to: $$$$$$$$$$$$$

since you change to the new profile pic from the hangover dentist thing, your style of comment has changed to 🙂 and I liked it haha.

yea it is $$$ that runs this world. second chance and second opportunity is not cheap. these schools know that. However, MWU AZ slowly decrease the amount of students they accept from SMP program, like from 40 like people to like 20 now. so if you join a SMP program of 50 students, you only have 40% of getting in. but you have 100% of having at least 30-40k debt

I enjoyed when she had Jennifer Aniston there. Way better looking than Jon Snow 🙂

A guaranteed interview is more than not fair for merely a year's worth of compensation. Period.

Mad? Not mad at all. And it's a public forum. I have a right to post as much as everyone else here. You're the only one acting quite superior. Check yourself before you start throwing random accusations at people.

Darling, no one is stopping you from applying to one of those programs. Why don't you go to one if you're so adamant that it'll give you an unfair advantage?

You say not to pass judgement yet you evaluate me and tell me I should consider myself lucky. If you're gonna practice something, don't be a hypocrite. Lesson number one.

🙄

No one cares if you think these programs are "fair" or not. If a dental school want's to admit students that perform well in their post bacc program that's their prerogative. Dental schools make the rules not you.

I'm done with you. You are a character. And I'm sure I'll see you around March with a "I had multiple interviews but no acceptances. Why???" thread. But go ahead, prove me wrong.

If i remember correctly, MWU AZ costs even more than the usual 30-40k SMP debt. That's quite a lot of debt with those kind of odds. I'm surprised the bolded isn't a bigger story. It's a pretty popular SMP for pre-dents.

How am I lucky for having a relative in dentistry? It doesn't a single role in the application process.

And I see you wish me the worst. Well, I could do the same and say I hope you fail out of dental school/don't get to match into residency/something happens where you're forced to drop out/something happens where you can't practice.

How are you lucky? I'll have it explained to you by a great post I saw a wise woman once write:
how she privileged she is to even be able to take those exams while there are people in third-world counties that can't even cough up the fee to do so?
